Director Biography – Mariam Kuku

A budding filmmaker from Lagos, Nigeria and an alumnus of Ebonylife Creative Academy. Mariam is the Creative Producer of the short film – Na Man You Be – a student masterpiece project from film school which has gone on and continue to garner appreciable viewership online as well as recognitions and awards at top film festivals both home and abroad. She served as Producer Intern on the production of the Showmax original series – Crime & Justice Lagos. She is a show host, co-director and producer of Another Ramadan TV Series – a bespoke educative and lifestyle content for Muslims to maximise the season of Ramadan. Beyond being a producer, I would love to find a niche in film marketing, sales, and distribution for local productions – in the long term.
Before deciding to explore the world of filmmaking, professionally, she works in Advertising with focus on media and marketing communications and strength in birthing and building brands while managing all stages of campaigns for the most optimal results. She has keen eyes for great film and television contents and at some point in her career, she knew she was going to walk this path – you know, producing great ones too. And so, she is here… ready to fully take on the world of filmmaking. In at least a decade from now, she does hope to have mastered both film and television enough to becoming a strong powerhouse – bringing original and progressive African stories to the global stage. Currently working on my first major film; now at the research/development stage – a compelling cross-cultural African series. Wish me luck!
