After 10 years working abroad, an up-and-coming actor is challenged by a prickly director at her first gig back in Melbourne.

Director Biography – Lesley Luo, Abdi Aden

Le Luo is passionate about the storytelling in the tableau (dramatic tension) from daily life. Le is also a writer and host of a queer podcast and she is fascinated by seeing the world from the queer women’s eyes. Le is interested in authentic diversity on screen and she believes the representation on screen is a vital step for reality. Her favourite filmmakers are Céline Sciamma and Alice Wu. Le hopes that one day she can also be a filmmaker like them. Now Le is trying to figure out how to do a sci-fi short film with a low budget.

Abdi Aden is an inspiring youth worker and a motivational speaker. He is the author of ‘Shining: the Story of a Lucky Man’ and the children’s book ‘Yes I can’. He was acknowledged with the 2007 Victorian Refugee Recognition Award and was featured in the SBS second series of ‘Go Back to Where You Came From. He’s currently developing Taxi, a web series about the lives of African refugees in Australia.
