On the 1st of April 2018, ASIFF opened entry for films shot or made with mobile device, be it short films, Feature films, documentaries, web videos, animations, comedy skits, and inspiring photos to be submitted to the festival. The festival received over 1500 films shot with smarphone and will screening over 200 films on the big screen, a dream come true for aspiring and low budget filmmakers.
African Smartphone International Film Festival (ASIFF) organisers are pleased to invite all filmmakers, entertainers, creative industry stakeholders, movie lovers and smartphone users to the prestigious festival, which hold from 21-23rdDecember 2018. Venue: Pathfield Mall, 4th Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Time: 9am-7pm daily.
ASIFF launched the first ever and only smartphone film festival in Africa at the Magnificent Cinemas, Palm Groove, Lagos on Dec 9-10 2017, the film festival aims to showcase and promote the rich diversity of filmmaking via the usage of mobile devices, and the impact it can create in the society.
The Three-day film festival, Theme; Shut Up and Show Your Reel, features film screening, workshops, master classes, Q & A sessions, Panel discussions, networking events, Gala awards ceremony, party and adventure. The festival is in partnership with iTECH Academy, The Nigerian Company and Alabafy.
Michael Osheku, the founder and festival director of African Smartphone International Film Festival, said, “The Festival is aimed at changing the way people experience content made with mobile devices.
The festival will screen stories shot using mobile devices like smartphones, Tablets and PCs. Thereby encouraging professional, amateur, and aspiring filmmakers to share their stories to the world using inexpensive, high quality technological creations that are at their fingertips.
The festival, is equally aiming to attract a wider and more diverse filmmaking audience both in the country and internationally while at the same time bringing together industry representatives, film societies, upcoming and established filmmakers.
